It’s that time of year again! Late night football games with friends and family, fuzzy blankets with huge mascots, team hats, and waking up to hoarse voices. I’m gonna be 100% honest. Although I love how entertaining my husband can be yelling at a screen, my favorite part about watching NFL football is the food. Who’s to say that it can’t get good until the super bowl?! The best part is when I don’t have to be the one to cook it all, so call up your besties, divvy out some favorite recipes, and enjoy the game without the prep work! Here are some of my favorite recipes that are super simple fan favorites and maybe a little different than the classic seven layer bean dip (which don’t get me wrong, should not be left out:)

This was introduced to me on my mission in Minnesota by a Utah State alumni who would throw huge football parties and knew this to be a hit!
1 lb ground sausage (can be substituted with ground turkey for a healthier option)
1 block cream cheese
1 can rotel tomatoes
1 can green chilis or jalapenos
Brown the sausage.
Without draining, mix in cream cheese, tomatoes, and green chilis.
Cook until all of the cream cheese is melted.
Serve with tortilla chips, Fritos, or toasted pita bread slices.
“‘Texas Toast’ Hamburgers”
A simple change to your classic cheeseburger, but holy moly does it make a world of difference when it comes to flavor and texture! And let’s be honest, this is quite self explanatory, but in case you’re needing inspiration:
(For an even more simple and cheaper option, use the TX toast for garlic bread pizzas)
2 boxes Texas Toast (16 slices)
1.5 lbs lean ground hamburger
2 roma tomatoes, sliced
8 slices sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
1 avocado cut in small slices (optional)
Cook Texas Toast according to box instructions.
Section meat into 8 smashed patties and brown- season as desired.
Top meat with cheese and melt .
Add other toppings and -voila! Gourmet hamburgers.
“Patsy’s Party Punch”
My darling Grandma makes this at all her social gatherings, so why not football games? It’s certainly stood the test of time as another favorite.
¼-½ gallon raspberry sherbet (really any flavor will do)
2 L ginger ale or Sprite/7-Up
33 oz pineapple juice or 12 oz frozen can of pink lemonade
16 oz frozen raspberries
Mix all the ingredients together, adding the frozen berries last.
“Buffalo Chicken Meatballs”
Buffalo chicken is a must for any game. These have become a new favorite of mine and are way cheaper and more healthy than making classic wings, but taste just as good! The best part is that they can be made in an Instant Pot.
1 lb ground chicken
2 TBSP olive oil
¾ C bread crumbs
1 C + ⅓ C Louisiana-style hot sauce (separate)
1 large egg
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
2 diced green onions
Blue cheese or ranch salad dressing (optional)
Combine the ground chicken, bread crumbs, 1/3 cup hot sauce, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, green onions and salt in a large bowl.
Roll out 24, 1" balls of the mixture.
Turn on the Instant Pot to saute.
Heat the oil in the pot so that the bottom is coated.
Brown about five meatballs at a time for about 2-3 minutes per side and then set aside.
Turn off the Instant Pot and then add all the meatballs back in.
Coat them with the rest of the hot sauce and then place the lid on the Instant Pot with the valve sealed.
Set it at high pressure for 5 minutes.
Once the timer beeps, quick release the pressure and stir the meatballs.
Use toothpicks for easy serving and drizzle with salad dressing.
My mom has had this recipe for a while and it will always be one of my top favorite desserts. I’d pick cookies over cake any day and the fresh fruit is the icing on this cookie! (Not to mention the cream cheese frosting.) This will certainly be a crowd pleaser.
2 large eggs
1 ½ C sugar
14 TBSP (1 ¾ sticks) unsalted butter, softened
2 ½ C flour
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla extract
12 oz cream cheese, softened
7 ½ TBSP unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla
1 ¾ C powdered sugar
Fresh fruit cut into slices(my personal favorites are kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, and mangos- they have all the colors)
Beat butter and sugar together in a large bowl 3-5 minutes.
Mix in vanilla and eggs.
Add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, about 30 seconds. Chill the dough.
Preheat oven to 350. Roll chilled dough into one big cookie and place on a round baking sheet. Sprinkle with 2-3 tablespoons sugar. Bake for 17-20 minutes. Let cool; chill in fridge.
Mix frosting ingredients together and spread on chilled cookie. Chill again to set and thicken the frosting.
Top with fresh fruit. Cut into slices and serve.
