Surprise Engagement: Nik & Maddie

April 11, 2018

“Our story technically started about 4 years ago when Nik received his mission call to the Nampa, Idaho mission. While serving here, Nik was assigned to my ward for about 3 months! With him being a missionary, it was never a thought that I would date him or anything, so of course I only knew him as Elder Hall for those 2 years. Fast forward to January 2017, I just received my call to serve as a missionary in Tempe, Arizona! I was beyond thrilled and immediately thought of the missionaries that served in Nampa who were from Arizona! I knew of a couple who had recently returned home after serving their two years and Nik was among the few! I sent him a message on Facebook telling him where I was called and he congratulated me! I left for my mission on May 3, 2017. As I was serving I came across some problems with my hips which made it so I had to return home that October to have two hip surgeries. I was beyond upset, but little did I know, Heavenly Father definitely had a bigger plan for me! Nik had messaged my mom a couple days after I returned home, just to check up and see how I was doing… instead of answering his questions she let him know I had a phone and sent him my number. Our entire relationship has been long distance with him going to school at BYU-Idaho so about every other weekend one of us would drive the 4.5 hours to see the other. From the first date I knew that he was the one I wanted to be with for an eternity. Everything felt so right I am so beyond grateful for where life has taken us so far and I’m a so excited to learn and grow with Nik by my side 🙂 So a big thank you to my mom and to Heavenly Father for bringing the man of my dreams into my life! ” -Maddie

This engagement session was AMAZING!!! When Nik contacted me a few days before the session about proposing to Maddie during the shoot I was SO EXCITED! It has always been a dream of mine to capture an actual engagement because that was such a sweet day for Hudson and I! I helped him come up with a plan and then it was time! I put them in the first “pose” where Nik would stand behind her and on the count of three she would turn around and give him the biggest bear hug! When she turned around there he was down on one knee! It was the best thing ever! I felt so honored to be able to capture it and I can’t wait for their sunny Arizona wedding!!
